Koláˇr , known in the field of figurative arts particularly for the development of the techniques of collage and rollage, in this work makes converge on a single card four celebrated paintings of treacherously disproportionate bodies, among which are very easily recognizable Parmigianino’s Virgen de cuello largo (Long-necked virgin) and Velázquez’s Enano con perro (Dwarf with dog). With this representation, Koláˇr launches a critique of art and its obstinate desire for aesthetic and anatomical perfection, which inevitably distances it from everyday reality.
