Duchamp Exhibition - Agreement with the MAM of Sao Paulo
Fundación Proa confirmed the signing of an agreement with the Museo de Arte Moderno (Museum of Modern Art) of Sao Paulo to organise jointly the exhibition Marcel Duchamp: una obra que no es una obra “de arte” (Marcel Duchamp: a work which is not a work “of art”)
The exhibit will be shown in mid 2008 in San Pablo, and afterwards it will reach Fundación Proa’s new building. This will open up the possibility to prolong the show in Buenos Aires until February 2009.
As agreed, Elena Filipovic, art historian and researcher specialized in Duchamp, will be the curator in both venues, which will allow a unifying criteria in all the areas involved: expository design, catalogue, educational programmes and cultural activities.
The Museo de Arte Moderno of Sao Paulo has been featuring modern as well as local, Latin-American and international contemporary art for more than fifty years. The bond between this institution and Fundación Proa goes back to the year 1998, when the exhibition Anselm Kiefer, organised from Proa, was shown in its premises.
