The unveiling of the plaque remembering the legendary Federation of Workers in Naval Construction (Federación de Obreros en Construcciones Navales) took place on August 17th at Fundación PROA´s facade. The Federation was housed for three decades in what is now PROA´s building.
Orlando Torrado, once a member of the Federation, remembered some of the historical personalities that walked through the building, such as Diego Abad de Santillán, Benito Quinquela Martín, Alberto Petrone, Alfredo Palacios and Juan de Dios Filiberto, and later César Milstein and Osvaldo Bayer.
The emotional event was planned during the celebrations made for La Boca´s Day and for the 140th birthday of the neighborhoods autonomy. Members of the Federation unveiled the plaque and later spoke of memories of old anarchist times, and remembered the last congress held by the old workers organization FORA, that took place in the same building. The union was active between 1951 and 1971 in one of the houses now occupied by Fundación PROA´s building.
