El dibujo

A lo largo de toda su vida el dibujo fue para Rivera una herramienta fundamental que en la pintura mural adquiere su máximo potencial. Es en su labor de muralista, donde la definición escueta de la figura fue esencial en su estilo. Entre los dibujos de Diego Rivera que recoge la colección se encuentran varios ejecutados en 1956, justo un año antes de su muerte, realizados en Moscú donde se encontraba estudiando el arte del realismo socialista. Los dibujos en buena parte se refieren a hombres trabajando. En "Transportando durmientes", "Paleando nieve" dibujos acuarelados de gran sencillez, las figuras humanas han sido casi reducidas a bultos, el trabajo comunitario queda patente, donde el frío invierno se calienta un poco por esta comunidad laboral y por los delicados colores cálidos que le imprimió el pintor. Junto con la serie de Segadores, estos dibujos de gran simplicidad son el más alto homenaje a los anónimos trabajadores de toda sociedad, dibujos que son casi un melancólico, pero dulce testamento de lo que fue su última visión del socialismo.
