This book deals with the process through which the Argentine art from the late 20th century and the beginning of the 21st starts revealing Argentina’s complex position in its insertion in the global economy. It includes essays authored by Rodrigo Alonso and Valeria González. The accompanying images reflect the multiple output of that period, in a range of media including photography, video, painting, installations and performance devices.
This book is a profound approach to Boetti’s theoretical universe. The curators, Giacinto Di Pietrantonio and Corrado Levi, get involved in a dialogue about the artist and his relevant vision. Laura Cherubini, specialist in contemporary art, writes an insightful essay on his life and work. Giorgio Guglielmino explains the reasons and the value of the importance of Boetti in Buenos Aires.
This book brings together a set of interviews to the outstanding Argentine artists Luis Fernando Benedit, Nicolás García Uriburu, Rómulo Macció, Luis Felipe Noé, Alfredo Prior, Rogelio Polesello and Josefina Robirosa. Similar to the great public and private collections, artists watch over artworks for different reasons. Each set presents and gives evidence on the life and the similar relationships among them. It is a selection of preferences and tastes that describe different moments in each artist’s life.
This book is a compilation of the debates that took place in the workshop “Encuentro de Espacios y Grupos de Arte Independientes de América Latina y el Caribe”, (Meeting of Independent Art Spaces and Groups from Latin America and the Caribbean), and is one of the first contributions to the aesthetic discussion among independent groups from Latin America.

The creators E. Basaldúa, C. Billourou, J. Ferrari, A. Negrin, H. Pigozzi, J. Sarudiansky y Mini Zuccheri are interviewed by the art critic Eva Grinstein. These dialogues aim at showing the activitites related to stage and costume design as yet another element in the creation of art. This book also extensively documents the work done at Fundación Proa during the exhibition “Giuseppe Verdi: Escenografía y vestuario. Instalaciones” (Giuseppe Verdi: Stage and costume design. Installations) carried out in 2001. In that occasion, the artists who had been summoned carried out an expository project into Verdi’s world.
This book presents the Museo del Inconsciente (Museum of the Subconscious), from Rio de Janeiro, where the psychiatrist Nise da Silveira broke ground in a neuropsychiatric hospital with a new method of work and recovery of the mentally ill through artistic creation. In this way, she opened up the possibility for innovative initiatives in the field of mental health which are developed at present, thus becoming a living symbol of liberation. It features a text by Luiz Carlos Mello, current director of the Museum, as well as biographies and reproductions by the patients of those centres, which have shaken the contemporary art scene due to their rich creativity.
Mario Merz, born in 1925 in Italy, is considered by the international art history and criticism as one of the most outstanding and significant artists of the 20th century art world. He participated in the movement ‘Arte Povera’, which emerged in Italy in 1967. The photographs that accompany the text cast light on the versatility and complexity in the construction of his igloos, of his “Fibonacci” series as well as of his painting.
Arte Abstracto Argentino - Conferencias gathers the thoughts and stimulating dialogs of the artists Tomás Maldonado, Enio Iommi, Gyula Kosice y Raúl Lozza with the audience, and a conversation with Martín Blaszko.
