These dialogues aim at showing the activitites related to stage and costume design as yet another element in the creation of art. This book also extensively documents the work done at Fundación Proa during the exhibition “Giuseppe Verdi: Escenografía y vestuario. Instalaciones” (Giuseppe Verdi: Stage and costume design. Installations) carried out in 2001. In that occasion, the artists who had been summoned carried out an expository project into Verdi’s world.
This book presents the Museo del Inconsciente (Museum of the Subconscious), from Rio de Janeiro, where the psychiatrist Nise da Silveira broke ground in a neuropsychiatric hospital with a new method of work and recovery of the mentally ill through artistic creation. In this way, she opened up the possibility for innovative initiatives in the field of mental health which are developed at present, thus becoming a living symbol of liberation.
