Here We Are! Argentine Women Designers

This publication aims to document a set of works whose history is not shaped by major brands or fully established industrial systems. The Argentine designers featured in these pages have often worked — and continue to work — from a place of self-sufficiency, in dialogue with art, craft traditions, and the invention of their own languages, within a territory in constant flux. Their contributions go beyond technical and formal matters: they also represent responses to the economic, social, and political contexts in which they have operated.

The selection includes both historical and contemporary figures. Some were part of the emergence of author-driven design in the mid-20th century, while others are currently expanding the field through collaborative and experimental approaches. For this reason, the focus was placed on works that challenge inherited notions and invite us to rethink the boundaries of what design can — or should — be in Argentina.

Celina Arauz de Pirovano, Lucrecia Moyano, Lala Méndez Mosquera, Colette Boccara, Celina Castro, Josefina Robirosa, Josefina Ayerza, Margarita Paksa, and contemporary designers such as María Sánchez, Diana Cabeza, and Patricia Lascano are among the featured creators in this edition.
