Participants: Rodrigo Abd – Sarah Pabst – Tomás Cuesta – Carlos Masotta – Daniel Merle – Natacha Pisarenko – Mariana Nedelcu – Cora Gamarnik

As part of the Human exhibition of the Prix Pictet at Fundación Proa, this seminar—held across two sessions in October and November—offers an overview of some of the most relevant practices in documentary photography and photojournalism, and their connections with contemporary artistic practices.

Led by renowned Argentine photographers and artists with national and international recognition, the program invites participants to reflect on photography as discourse, source, testimony, and aesthetic construction—questioning current modes of producing visuality, as well as the ways images are captured and processed within cultural and social narratives. The seminar also proposes a discussion of methodological and theoretical approaches, as well as practical case studies, concerning the use of journalistic, artistic, and archival photographs in academic, journalistic, and communication projects.

The seminar is aimed at photographers, researchers and scholars of photography, art, the humanities, and the social sciences; journalists; curators; cultural managers; and professionals who work with photographic material.
