Presentation
The garden of PROA21 holds stories that are only revealed to those destined to discover them, typically those who engage wholeheartedly in the game of serendipity. With that spirit of adventure, Toca misterio is presented, the performative work that inaugurates the Temporada Alta cycle in this space anchored in Vuelta de Rocha. Throughout the performances, it proposes to follow the traces of other voices, other realms.
"Mystery can be approached in different ways or ideas. For us, it opens up as a space between what we seek and what eludes us, in this case, some certainty. That drives us to keep searching, and that's what this performance is about, an idea that emerged from the constant practice of investigation, where the goal is not to arrive at a truth but to exercise the pursuit," says Celia Argüello, the author of the texts along with Juan Gabriel Miño.
"I come from the performing arts and movement, but the team of artists convened is multidisciplinary: they come from writing, music, visual arts, theater; thus, the languages were composed and complexified. The work is more related to the current environment of La Boca than its past, although it seeks these small corners and gaps that puncture the surface and could be linked to a certain archaeology, expanding the idea towards a 'non-time,' generating a plot or journey that will unfold over these Saturdays. When the proposal from Proa arose, I found the collective and outdoor work interesting. Additionally, I was just reading some authors who critique the idea of nature as a concept named as outside of man and not as something we are immersed in," adds Celia, who also plays an active role in the scene.
